Alpenglow
Alpenglow
Winter takes its toll
Alaska mood settles in
we are ambitious elk
dreaming above freezing
begging the gnomonist
to flash to busy season
~
I’ll sell my soul
for one more alpenglow
or at least hitch a ride
up the unforgiving mountainside
my legs are cut from the climb
the view is sublime
~
Spring comes in due time
flowers emerge from the thaw
stems adorn suspicious thorns
anticipating lovers’ blood
they’d rather fight to hold their ground and stay
than be trapped in a clichéd bouquet
~
I’ll sell my soul
for one more alpenglow
or at least hitch a ride
up the unforgiving mountainside
my legs are cut from the climb
the view is sublime
~
Summer comes in hot
the rise before the fall
we are surreptitious sanders
smoothing out the wood
so we can avoid the inside
polished smell of pine
~
I’ll sell my soul
for one more alpenglow
or at least hitch a ride
up the unforgiving mountainside
my legs are cut from the climb
the view is sublime
~
I’ll sell my soul
for one more alpenglow
~

That’s all from me — Chris B.

Lovely. The hitch a ride make me sing Boston’s Hitch a ride. “Gonna hitch a ride, just to the other side, leave it all behind, never change my mind”. I think those are the lyrics, it’s what I sing along to anyway.
I love this so much. I hope this brings you much success as it is nicely written and the song is beautiful!
