B-side
A poem inspired by Stories from the Jukebox
B-side
All you see
is a high-pitched
blip.
I am more
than that playful,
one-note call
for rain.
~
The masses pop
for bumblebees—
the one refrain—
the only version
they savored.
~
Did you catch
the tones
on the B-side?
You would have
heard the sickest
bass lines.
~
I left the scene
before you saw
the man behind
that falsetto—
what I could
really do.
~
But here it is,
one parting clue—
my words
run deeper than
those cursed charts
of 1992.
